History is made by individuals and innovators. So creative people are defining the future. Another such person is Peter Lyngdorf whose motto is:
“If you want to make real progress you have to be willing to question existing technologies and rethink everything.”
Thus, due to his continuous pursuit of perfection, he has had to abandon existing audio techniques in order to achieve his goal of reproducing the most true-to-nature music reproduction.
Since the 1970s, Peter Lyngdorf has built a world reputation from his native Denmark as founder or co-founder of: Dali loudspeakers, NAD Electronics, Gryphon Audio, Snell Acoustics, Tact Audio, Lyngdorf Audio and Steinway Lyngdorf. Beyond these reputable brands, Peter Lyngdorf has acquired a significant stake in several high-technology companies that are developing specific techniques to achieve his goal together.
In the 1990s, Peter became interested in digital amplification and digital room correction. For example, he designed the first-ever MILLENNIUM digital amplifier and developed industry-leading digital audio with world-renowned Lyngdorf RoomPerfect™ acoustics optimization.
In 2006, a complete music system was designed under the Steinway & Sons brand name. This world-renowned piano manufacturer was hugely impressed by the faithful reproduction and forward-thinking nature of these technological developments. A mutual respect was the basis of the company now called Steinway Lyngdorf, which houses Lyngdorf Audio.
Under the Lyngdorf Audio brand name, it uses Steinway Lyngdorf technology, but developed as loosely deployable equipment for high-end applications.

Designed, developed and built in Denmark, the purely audio-oriented CD-2 offers the unmatched performance one would expect from a Lyngdorf Audio product. Developed with the experience gained from the multi-award-winning Lyngdorf Audio digital amplifiers and CD players. This pure audio CD player is one of the best sounding on the market.
The CD-2 is designed for audio only and uses a simultaneously simpler and better pure audio CD drive. The Lyngdorf Audio philosophy is to process and optimize the audio signal as cleanly as possible with the Lyngdorf Audio precision digital clock. Thanks to our previous work on digital amplifiers and CD players, we know the “do’s & don’ts” of digital clock systems. For the CD-2, we implemented the clock from the Millenium MkIV. The key to its performance is very low phase noise across the entire audio spectrum.
When music is mastered, the level of the signal is often very high. When analyzing a recording, we often find multiple consecutive maximum samples, which indicate that “clipping” is occurring and creating a deviation from the original sound.
Audio recordings that exceed 0 dBFS (decibels related to “full scale”) sound very compressed because no headroom remains. Unfortunately, this distortion is often associated with digital recordings and compared to vinyl playback. In CD-2, the signal strength is reduced by 3 dB. As a result, you enjoy full dynamics and more distortion-free sound.
The switched-mode power supply designed for Lyngdorf was regulated, filtered and decoupled to extremely high standards. This means an extremely low noise threshold and low impedance power supply for the digital and analog circuits in the CD-2.
Thanks to independent and separate secondary windings in the power transformer, the digital and analog power supplies are kept separate. This results in minimal digital noise in the analog circuit. Grounding within the electronic circuit is optimal.
Lyngdorf Audio makes every effort to develop products that introduce absolutely no noise or hum of their own into the signal path.
Digital-to-analog conversion (also used in the Millennium MkIV) drives a particularly high-quality, fully balanced output stage. The D/A converter is built with the renowned Wolfson WM8740 chip. This, combined with the fully balanced design and high-quality audiophile operational amplifiers, results in exceptional sound reproduction.
By re-sampling the output of the CD drive to a digital clock with exceptionally low noise levels, the side effects of jitter are reduced to an absolute minimum. Our “state of the art” sample rate converters, allow the digital output of the audio drive to be upsampled to a selectable output ratio. An important advantage of this is that you can control the output to the optimal operating point of the D/A converter. The digital output can deliver 24-bit resolution at a “sample rate” of up to 192 kHz. The analog output section is upsampled in an equalizing process to 96 kHZ.
The Lyngdorf Audio MP-40 2.1 Surround Sound Processor has all the sound qualities and processing power of the MP-60 2.1 model mentioned above.
Built into the MP-40 2.1 is a voicing tool with capability for up to 32 different programmable sound settings for each individual input or output. Institutions can each use up to 8 filters with intensity and volume controls.
These functions can be conveniently set up via the web interface and clearly show both the effect of each individual filter, as well as an overall view of the influence on the entire tonal spectrum.
Cooling is passive with no fan noise and therefore quiet.
RoomPerfect™ calibration on all channels delivers a surround sound experience that surpasses anything in its class.

Very compact speaker with a size of only 14 X 19.2 X 8 centimeters!
The Lyngdorf MH3 is a 2 way speaker with a very powerful 4″ midrange/bass speaker and a soft dome tweeter with extremely large vertical dispersion.
The 4″ woofer is specially designed with a 50% stronger magnet than is common with traditional 4″ speakers.
This magnet design results in high efficiency and a flat frequency characteristic.
The Lyngdorf MH3 may safely be placed up to 30 centimeters above or below the listening position without disturbing the soundstage.
This combination of features makes the MH3 easy to install, and can also be placed flush against a wall using keyhole mounting plates and the recessed connections.
The entire enclosure is made of heavy MDF to prevent unwanted cabinet resonances.
The MH3 combines very well with one or two Lyngdorf BW3 compact subwoofers.
As an amplifier, a Lyngdorf TDAI2170 is an ideal combination or the Lyngdorf TDAI1120 with built-in network player and, of course, RoomPerfect.
Technical data of the Lyngdorf MH3:
With the MH-2, Lyngdorf sets a new standard of performance for a compact audiophile satellite speaker
Designed to play loud with clear and relaxed sound reproduction, the MH-2 can keep it up all night with ease. Temperature build-up and noise distortion are minimized by using a temperature-resistant voice coil made of fiberglass impregnated with polyimide resin and a vented magnet with copper cap.
The use of a 5.25″ midrange speaker with an extremely strong magnet results in higher efficiency and linear frequency response across the entire frequency range. The cone of the speaker is made of very light and strong aluminum with a clearly definable break-up point that is easily filtered away. The result is natural and detailed music reproduction.
The lightweight 1″ soft dome tweeter with linear frequency response is mounted close to the speaker, providing optimal vertical dispersion. This wide vertical dispersion means more flexibility in speaker placement.
Available in high-gloss black or matte, the MH-2 can be easily attached to the wall. The minimal dimensions of the housing make it gain practical beauty and reduce resonances.
Although the MH-2 speakers can perform very well on their own, they are designed to be complemented by one or more high-end subwoofers. When you combine them together with the BW-2 High end wideband subwoofers and with the TDAI-2170 with built-in RoomPerfect™ and digital crossovers, you have a complete, optimally dynamic performing system.
The set up is simple. Connect a pair of MH-2´s and one or two BW-2´s to the TDAI-2170, switch the BW-2 to bypass mode and select the pre-configured speaker settings in the TDAI-2170´s configuration menu. Make it absolutely perfect by performing RoomPerfect™. Then lean back and enjoy.
Audio specifications 2-way satellite speaker
Audio specifications of the Lynfdorf FR-1 two-way speaker system with passive diaphragm.
The FR-1 speakers are compact and stylishly finished in high-gloss black or matte white. For placement options, accessories for wall mounting are included and there is possibility for mounting by M4 thread.
The housing is a full MDF construction with a capacity of13.5 liters and a weight of 8.4 kg. The minimal dimensions of the enclosure (W x H x D) 34.0 x 57.0 x 11.5 cm make it gain practical beauty and reduce resonances.
The tweeter of the MH-2 has been redesigned to accommodate the high efficiency of the FR-1.
The 6.5-inch long-stroke woofer combined with the 8-inch passive diaphragm reproduce bass dynamically, deeply and quickly.
The Lyngdorf BW-3 is a subwoofer with a wide frequency range for optimal dynamic and faithful reproduction of bass.
Most traditional subwoofers are limited to 120 Hertz while the BW-3 can reproduce up to 800 Hertz in bypass mode. This makes the BW-3 more compatible in configurations such as home theater or stereo setups with crossover filters in the receivers or amplifiers.
The built-in Class D amplifier has a power output of 400 watts. Lyngdorf has more than 15 years of experience designing audiophile, excellent-sounding Class D amplifiers. This built-in amplifier also has tremendous control over the BW-3’s 8″ long-stroke woofer.
The cabinet has a capacity of only 7 liters, the woofer was designed specifically for the BW-3 with such a small capacity and is extremely fast and powerful.
Technical specifications of this Active subwoofer
The BW-2 High end wideband subwoofer can reproduce music and soundtracks with full dynamics and precision. The frequency range of the 400-watt active BW-2 goes up to 800 Hz in “bypass” mode. The driver tracks the signal with extreme precision.
With more than 15 years of experience, Lyngdorf developed an internal 400 watt Class-D amplifier and bass driver with over-dimensioned magnet and voice coil to perfectly control the frequency response in the compact enclosure even at extreme sound volumes. This results in extremely fast response time and high efficiency.
Available in high-gloss black or matte white, the discreet design of the BW-2 placed upright or lying down seamlessly integrates into any interior.
Especially when combined with the MH-2 satellite speakers and the TDAI-2170 amplifier with built-in RoomPerfect™ and digital crossovers, it offers the perfect match for stereo or home-cinema system that outperforms any system in or above its price range.
Technical details active high-end broadband subwoofer
D stands for discreet; all models are designed as installation speakers for discreet integration into the wall or ceiling, with a wall mounting mechanism with mounting clips.
The D-60 is designed as a high-performance in-wall speaker for front and surround channels. With the highest power handling (200 W, IEC), sensitivity (92 dB 2.83 v/ 1 m) and achievable sound pressure level (112 dB) of the Discrete series, the D-60 covers frequencies from 22 kHz to 80 Hz (-3dB). The D-60 is intended to be used with additional woofers for the LFE and bass, such as the Lyngdorf BW-20, making it the ideal choice for high-performance home theaters and larger rooms.
The D-60 features a more powerful soft-dome tweeter than the D-500 flush-mount speaker, and has a much stronger magnet. The two 18cm / 7-inch aluminum mids feature vented magnets and vented molded baskets, while the inverted surround allows for a flat speaker front and space-saving cabinet depth.
In addition, the D-60 is equipped with a pre-assembled speaker enclosure, eliminating the need for an after-market backbox or enclosed wall cavity. This ensures that the sound performance is always defined and consistent, regardless of the construction of the wall or the available space behind it. The housing is made of high-quality mdf, which increases rigidity and prevents material resonance.
Finally, the woofers and tweeters are based on the familiar drive units used in other Lyngdorf speakers, but modified for these new models. They feature soft-dome tweeters, lightweight aluminum cones, vented magnets and molded baskets. With the D-60, one no longer has to choose between high-performance and a discreet physical presence.
To reproduce a defined sound regardless of the environment or installation conditions, Lyngdorf supplies the D-500 and D-500 Center with their own speaker enclosures. These avoid variation in the sound profile caused by inconsistencies in after-market situations with various flush-mount housings, sealed wall cavities, etc.
The two speakers feature a full range design with two 175 mm passive woofers, a 175 mm midrange driver with a 38 mm voice coil and vented magnet, plus a 28 mm soft dome tweeter. Both models can reach up to 50 Hz, so a subwoofer is not always necessary in smaller home theater setups. The fastening mechanism ensures uncomplicated installation in the wall. The D-500 has a closed composite enclosure while the Center version has a closed MDF enclosure.
The smaller D-5 is also a two-way loudspeaker and has similar drivers (25 mm soft dome tweeter and 180 mm midrange driver) as the larger D-500, but loses the two passive woofers with a correspondingly lower response of about 80 Hz. However, the reduction in size means that the versatility of the D-5 has been increased, so it can still be used in the front LCR array or as a surround speaker, and of course, adding a subwoofer will restore the ultra-low end.
For those seeking the full immersive audio experience, the D-5 IC is designed to be ceiling or wall mounted at height. It has an angled, adjustable tweeter to direct sound to the listening area.
The D-5 and D-5 IC also come with their own pre-assembled speaker enclosures for audio consistency. All Discreet series products are finished in matte black and come with a white magnetic grid.
For the larger home theater or theater environment, Lyngdorf has introduced the LS-1000 speaker module featuring four 115-mm midrange drivers with lightweight aluminum cones, 25-mm voice coils and powerful vented magnets, and complemented by eight 25-mm soft dome tweeters. For delivering consistent, effective and immersive audio to audiences in larger auditoriums, Lyngdorf recommends four modules stacked in a vertical array to create a line source of 16 midrange drivers and 32 tweeters.
There are three different LS-1000 models with the LS-1000 Left and LS-1000 Right radiating sound to the listening area and the LS-1000 Center with center-mounted tweeters leading to wider sound dispersion.
Compared to point sources, the vertical line source array minimizes the effect of floor and ceiling reflections by reducing vertical sound propagation. The LS-1000 maintains its sound energy across the room, so the perceived volume level is very uniform at every listening position in the theater.
With a rigid modular construction to minimize mechanical resonance, the enclosure design is also slim and very shallow, making it very easy to install behind acoustically transparent screens, especially useful for mid-channel arrays. The stacked modules are connected via integrated contact pins, eliminating the need for external speaker cables between the modules.
The four modules have a combined impedance of 4 ohms and an IEC power rating of 300 watts, making them easy to combine with amplifiers. The frequency range extends from 20,000 Hz to 100 Hz, allowing different woofers or subwoofers to complement the LS-1000.
The BW-20 consists of two powerful 12-inch woofers with large vented magnets, dual spiders and aluminum cones. It is a high-bandwidth woofer that reaches up to 20 Hz but can also handle up to 500 Hz. This allows integration with front speakers of any size and with any crossover filter type. The BW-20 avoids any sound performance gap, even if the front speakers are not full-range low-end speakers.
The BW-20 is designed to be placed in the corner of the room or very close to wall boundaries to achieve the best bass response. A Boundary woofer prevents reflected bass from bouncing off the rear and side walls, instead benefiting from room acoustics. The BW-20 is designed so that the drivers can face the walls or the room or can be mounted on the wall without affecting the sound.
